Statement of Intent
Seeing the impact climate change has had on the world over the past few years, self explains why we should be aware of what we are doing to the planet.
Why is food waste a problem in 2020? Most food waste ends up in landfill, then decomposes without oxygen, as a result, large masses of methane, a harmful greenhouse gas gets released. This is 25 times more dangerous than carbon dioxide in terms of trapping heat in the atmosphere. As a result, the earth heats up killing the environment.

I intend to use my looped animation to bring awareness to the viewers and educate them. I aim to show in my animation why 13.8% of food being lost in supply chains is a problem in 2020.
I hope this message resonates with the viewers and urges them to reflect on how they can do their part to reduce food waste and live a more sustainable lifestyle.
Process
The brief instructed us to; Continue to build on the programming concepts we have learned during the Sequence Of Primitives. Working with the same statistic as Sequence of Primitives we will once again undertake a process of creative interpretation and abstraction to reveal a novel insight about our chosen statistic. In Loop states, we will be experimenting with colour, form, typography and various other visual communication strategies to synthesize a dynamic output.

Concepts
After ideating a few ideas I felt I was not on the right track in terms of for shadowing the message I was trying to bring attention to the viewer.

This is becuase it didnt show why is it a problem it seemed to shwo what the problem is.

Secondary research
After establishing that my first intial concpets were not showing why food waste is a problem, I decided to do some more research into the effects of food waste.

After gathering a better unstanding I was able to expand on my ideations. waste of food has a huge impact on poverty as we know but I did not take into concideration how much water we waste.
All the food we grow uses large amounts of water. For example if we were to take 13% of food the throw it away, That 13% of food needs to regrown using more water. Resulting in water waste too.

Most food waste ends up in landfill as mentioned in my stament of intent. This bit of information was the main influence on my final animation.
First Narrative
Final Narrative
My Final ideation is a representation of the effects of greenhouse gas. Greenhouse gases are producted mainly from landfill where food waste plays a big factor in producing these gases.

Coming back to the question; Why?
Food waste is a problem because it effects the environment by enhancing globewarming. It does this by producing gases that encourage the earths atmosphere to heat up.
Coding
I established how you get my images to fade out to show the "dead" environment.

At this stage I felt the "environment" was to empty and needed more trees.
Final Animation
My Final Animation is the same initial development from the first narrative with a few developments. To conclude my knowledge learnt from this assignment, I have a better understanding of using data to influence your design.
By adding more secondary research to my data to further understand it helped answer the question;
why is this a problem in 2020?
As mentioned in my statement of intent I intended to use my looped animation to bring awareness to the viewers and educate them. I aim to show in my animation why 13.8% of food being lost in supply chains is a problem in 2020. I believe i was able to accomplish this in a very simple way.
